Welcome to this month’s Conscious Edit, where I highlight stylish finds, experiences and investment pieces designed to lighten your footprint while making a positive impact on both the planet and your wardrobe…
Unlike my first pregnancy, this first trimester this first trimester came in swinging like a wrecking ball! The hardcore fatigue combined with exxxxxtreme nausea landed me on doctor-ordered bed rest for seven weeks - a period that, looking back, feels like one big blurry fever dream. Days blended into each other, mostly spent half-asleep while Netflix completed itself, researching every “nausea hack” the Internet had to offer (spoiler: none of them are magic), and finding unexpected comfort doom-scrolling Instagram at 3am, watching reels of other pregnant women confirming that yes, this bit really is the pits... Misery loves company - and oddly specific memes.
In this month’s Edit, I’m sharing the little things that helped make a big difference in those first few months. Everyone’s experience and survival tactics are different, but for me, there were a few additional comforts: Ice-cold peaches and watermelon, boxes of iced doughnuts (courtesy of a heroic friend), gallons of ginger ale, and - strangely - steamed broccoli with soy sauce.
So, if you're currently living that first-trimester life - nauseous, exhausted, potentially questioning your life choices - just know you're not alone! What you’re doing is no small feat - So keep hydrated, be ridiculously kind to yoursel,f, and eat the damn doughnut(s)… This too shall (eventually) pass xx
