NYFW: Christian Siriano SS'14

Christian Siriano’s SS’14 show at New York Fashion Week was FAB-U-LOUS.  I was actually shaking with excitement whilst pouring over the catwalk snaps of this collection.

Inspired by a recent trip to Mexico’s Isla Mujeres, the designer showed a rainbow assortment of cute daywear and vibrant evening gowns.  The astonishing coral dress adorned with floral appliqués (below) is almost certainly a work of art.  Happiness would be a wardrobe filled with this beyond heavenly collection.  Love. It. All.

NYFW: Kate Spade New York SS'14

When life gives you lemons, you’d best hope they’re by Kate Spade!  The Kate Spade New York SS’14 presentation during New York Fashion Week was the ideal antidote to the bustling streets of Manhattan with the collection, entitled ‘Places to Go,’ People to See,’showcased in a tranquil indoor garden filled with lemon trees.  The collection was as feminine and perfectly polished as one has come to expect from the brand, and the delicious ladylike lemon print dress and skirt, alongside the playful zesty accessories (the straw bag below has my name all over it!) were irresistibly sweet.

NYFW: Monique Lhuillier SS'14

Monique Lhuillier’s SS’14 show this New York Fashion Week has easily been my favourite.  With no sign of any of the emerging trends for spring, Monique’s runway was filled with the most stunning of red carpet showstoppers.  Models were adorned in a collection of flowing and embellished gowns in hues of pink, orange and gold – I LOVE!

Below:  WOW!  My favourite look was undoubtedly this silk linen gazar bandeau in hot pink, paired with a very full orange draped ball skirt... Did I say WOW?!  I foresee a Hollywood catfight to wear this lil’puppy on the red carpet.

NYFW: Victoria Beckham SS'14

blog_303348_2164930_1378931138.jpg

The SS’14 Victoria Beckham show this New York Fashion Week showed a very different kind of collection to that we have become accustomed to.  Gone were the zipped back desk-to-dinner dresses which are well known to fly out of stores upon minutes of their arrival, and in their place, a younger, more urban and masculine style, with some flirty fuchsia and pleated asymmetrical hemlines added for good measure.  Victoria recognized this shift to more relaxed and cool designs, "I still love a fitted dress, but there's another side of me that wants to feel a little bit more at ease.”   I particularly liked the dove grey dress with white flippy pleats seen below.

Enough about the collection however, as we all know all eyes at the show were firmly set on the designer’s husband (naturally) and on the youngest member of the FROW, Miss Harper Beckham.  Hands down this photograph is THE picture of the week – Adorable!

NYFW: Zac Posen SS'14

Zac Posen’s SS’14 collection during New York Fashion Weekwas easily the most romantic.  Despite the trend for next spring looking sporty and minimalist, Zac Posen has always been devoted to designing elegant occasion wear and this show showed no sign of that passion abating.  Coco Rocha opened the show in a beautiful hand-plisséd silk chiffon dress and the following models all looked equally as ethereal in varying stunning sorbet and floral creations.  I particularly liked the more sculptured and layered golden silk organza dresses.

Miley Cyrus Not in Vogue

Oh M(ile)y Gawd... Rumour has it an appalled Anna Wintour has vetoed any plans for Miley Cyrus to feature on the much coveted front cover of American Vogue this December after the young performer’s much-lambasted VMA’s twerking.  Foam fingers and latex underwear are not, it seems, the new black Miley.

Alexa Chung's 3rd British Vogue Cover

I cannot wait to get my hands on Alexa Chung’s THIRD British Vogue cover, photographed by Patrick Demarchelier. I love Alexa’s well documented, nonchalant style, and this editorial goes to show exactly why; who else could look so effortlessly tomboy cool whilst wearing such pretty, romantic and girly gowns?!

To celebrate her October Vogue cover, Alexa has taken over Vogue.co.uk to share with us her own take on fashion history, beauty, culture and shopping - as well as revealing more details  from her book, 'IT'  (details of her book launch found here).

HAWT: Diane Kruger in Valentino

Hawt = A late 1940's and early 1950's acronym for "Having A Wonderful Time."
Now the word is used on the internet as slang for something reeeeally hot.

Diane Kruger, rarely off the Best Dressed lists, once again looked remarkable in this beautiful pink embellished Valentino SS’14 gown last weekend at the 2013 Venice Film Festival… Then again, how can she ever put a style step wrong with her favourite of evening accessories; the timeless and classic arm-candy that is Joshua Jackson.

Jennifer Lawrence for AW'13 Dior

I think Jennifer Lawrence’s latest A/W'13 Dior adverts, Captured by Willy Vanderperre, showing the Oscar-winning actress fresh faced wearing minimal make-up, are breathtaking.  Her porcelain skin and piercing blue eyes take centre stage in the campaign which features a grey cashmere coat and several of the latest covertable Diorbags.  GREAT eyebrows J-Law!

Alexa Chung's 'IT' Launch

Model, presenter, DJ and now WRITER, Alexa Chung (right) wore a stunning, off-the-shoulder lace Carven SS’14 dress to her book launch and signing at Liberty London last night.

Having said categorically before the book’s release that ‘It’ would not be a style bible or an autobiography, the book shares with us her musings on life, love and music, and through words, illustrations and photographs, explains how she became Britain’s favourite ‘It Girl,’ a term Rudyard Kipling invented in his 1904 story Mrs Bathurst (“It isn’t beauty, so to speak, nor good talk necessarily. It’s just ‘It’.”)

Below: Daisy Lowe and Laura Bailey (wearing a beautiful Roskanda Ilincic AW’13 dress) alongside Pixie Geldof and Nick Grimshaw, turned out to support their friend.

"I wrote it because I was bored and wanted to create something alongside hosting television shows," Alexa admits. "I wanted an extra project to focus on and it was a good excuse to reflect on the last few years and rummage through some long lost photo albums."

The Evening Standard scathingly reviewed the book as ‘one great big enhanced selfie.’  Judge me as you wish, but as a loyal Alexa Chung Instagram follower I just don’t see that as a bad thing?!  I can’t wait to get my copy!
